Google Adds Public Plus +1 Count to Search Results

Google is now publicly showing how many people have +1’d a website or webpage both in organic and paid search results. Whenever a user publicly plus one’s a link in Google’s search results or on a website via the +1 button, an annotation with current +1’s count will show up under that link when it appears in the search results. We have been experimenting with +1’s and we have noticed a better click thru ratio for listings that have the plus one annotation under the search result. Social Search integration is only the beginning for Google’s plans for merging its search engine and social network.

Google has added the “+1 Metrics” section in Google Webmaster Tools. The +1 button is about making it easier to connect with the people you trust online. For the +1 button, that means bringing advice from trusted friends and contacts right into Google search results, letting the users who likes your web content can now recommend it at the moment of decision.
